Oberhausen | January 2018 - December 2020 | terre des hommes
The Beurer Foundation supports the Terre des Hommes organisation in their work with child refugees in Oberhausen. The local sister organisation, Kinder- und Kulturkreis Oberhausen e.V. (KuK), supports projects for refugee children and women at four communal housing facilities in the area. Said work includes language courses for children and adults, homework help and recreational activities for children, help with finding daycare spots, registration for school and medical facilities, assignment of living quarters, as well as various activities to facilitate social integration. Additionally KuK coordinates education for refugee children, with the aim of improving the social integration of 390 refugee children and young people in Oberhausen. These children and young people are expected to develop as is appropriate for their age, and should be successful in taking part academically and socially in life in Oberhausen.
